Descriptive
Gérard Gasquet is your host at the Château de la Vallée Bleue, a small 19th century manor house set amidst ten acres of English-style gardens where you can enjoy candlelit dinners on the terrace or beside the fire with Chopin's waltzes in the background. This old house, once the home of George Sand's doctor, is today dedicated to good eating and peaceful holidays in the middle of the undulating countryside of the Berry.
George Sand's and Chopin's portraits by Claude Moins
Program
Following in the footsteps of George Sand, you can start by visiting Nohant, the house where Chopin composed more than half of his work and where the author enjoyed entertaining her friends Balzac, Flaubert, Liszt and Delacroix. Follow that with other places connected with the author such as the La Châtre Museum, the Châteaux of Ars and Sarzay and the mill at Angibault.
You could, of course, choose to do nothing but relax in the park, by the side of the pool or by a wood-burning fire listening to the music of Chopin.

TALCY, IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF RONSARD
On the first day, we shall welcome you to Blois for a coffee break before setting off to visit the Chateau of Blois. This chateau is one of the most prestigious examples of Renaissance art in France and a perfect illustration of the evolution of French architecture from the Middle Ages to the 17th century.
After this visit, you can leisurely stroll through the old quarters of the city to discover the private townhouses and the former abbey church of Saint Laumer built in the 12th and 13th centuries.
Lunch is reserved at a restaurant in the city.
Afterwards, you will be visiting the chateau of Cheverny in the afternoon. This chateau was used as a background by the famous cartoonist Hergé when he drew Moulinsart. It is particularly known for its rich, refined decoration and its important collection of furniture. The owners still live at the chateau today. Venery is a respected tradition that remains active. There is kennelling for 70 hounds, cross-breeds between English fox-hounds and the French Poitou, and feeding-time is always a rather astonishing spectacle.
Your first day of discovery will end with tasting at a wine-cellar. Afterwards, you will return to your hotel in Blois.
On the second day, you will discover the chateau of Talcy, built in 1520 by the Italian banker, Bernardo Salviati, yet still influenced by regional architectural traditions. Ronsard fell in love with Bernardo's daughter, Cassandra, to whom he dedicated so many sonnets. The chateau still has its rich collection of the 18th century furniture.
Lunch will precede your visit to the chateau of Chambord. This chateau is not only the best-known chateau in the Loire Valley, but also the largest Renaissance palace in France. More than four centuries after its construction, this magnificent building still defies imagination (156 m of facades, 56 m high, 440 rooms ...). Built like a fortress with its keep, curtain walls and towers, the fantasy created by the high Gothic roofs with their lively chimneys and dormers windows can be linked to the marvelous palaces found in medieval, chivalrous romances.
